Curious about the rarity of this error being found within the Westward Journey Proof set. There seems to be quite a few instances of individual coins with this error, but I haven't heard if anyone has found an instance within a proof set. Is there a possibility someone could seal a nickel and put it in set? Thanks for the feedback.
Howdy ericsutter - Welcome to the Forum !! If they have, I haven't heard of it. Don't expect we will really due to the nature of Proofs. But ya never know - anything's possible.
I saw PAX selling MS-69 detalched LEG FOR $450.00, MS-68 $350.00...glad I bought one when they first hit....$15.00
I just got my first 2 re-circulated buffalos this week, the 10 or so I have before then were from people... Now I'm getting them in rolls
Is their something I'm missing(detached leg) Detached from where? ( the body or the piece of land)?????
A weak strike will not produce this effect. Low relief areas are the last to be affected by a weak strike. The detached leg is apparently due to intentional die abrasion ("die polishing"). This takes out the lowest-lying areas of the design.
