I've been reading up on two cent pieces just recently. Is it me or is the color on this coin unnatural and obviously cleaned? It looks like it has been whizzed too (especially noticeable on the reverse). Looking at the seller's history, it appears a lot of his coins look cleaned. Maybe I'm just paranoid or something, but I think the colors seem off and the marks are very suspect.

I have to agree with you. The surfaces of the coin just don't look right. The seller is a 99.6%, so he has had some issues with buyers. Think I see somewhat vertical striations on the reverse likely from some cleaning action.

The pics show a bright shiney coin that is 145 years old, gee, looks like it was minted yesterday......I'd pass

I am not an expert by any means, but I get suspicious with many of the coins on ebay.
Especially the morgan dollars. I may have even passed up a good deal because of this!
To answer your question it does look a little "clean". I believe,a coin in this condition would be in a airtight case or something to that effect, to keep it this nice.

Looks too shiny to me, and the vertical marks on the reverse look a lot like whizzing.

Its been whizzed. The lines on the back prove that.

I haven't even seen Slabbed coins with the RD after the grade that red. Looks like it was maybe minted yesterday, who know maybe it was. My take if I owned a coin that nice and thought that it was Gem Bu and that red, I would have submitted it to a TPG before I sold it on ebay. JMO

Whizzed without any doubt, which is a shame because before the whizzing it appears to have been a really nice coin. Now? I'd say it's worth $20. With a good recoloring job maybe $30, but the luster is gone for good and there is no way to get rid of all those brush marks short of putting in your pocket and wearing it down to maybe a Fine.

My first impression of the coin is that it has been dipped considering that the 3rd side - edge - appears to be the same color. Do whizzers whizz edges?

Notice part of the description in his own words:

    "This coin has ms-63 details."

Same sort of wording that ANACS uses when slabbing cleaned coins.
That's his way of saying the coin has been cleaned.

But most buyers would have missed that somewhat subtle wording.

Someone thought it was worth $111 (not me!).
