I noticed a 4 specimen sheet of uncut $50 FRNs have serial numbers incremented by 1,400:

    • 99889638
    • 99891038
    • 99892438
    • 99893838
A 4 specimen sheet of uncut $5 FRNs have serial number incremented by 10,000:

    • 99802076
    • 99812076
    • 99822076
    • 99832076
Is the difference in the increment related to the size of the production runs?

Yes, at least in one direction. That is, the number of sheets printed can't be larger than the skip between positions on each sheet. Sometimes the number of sheets printed has been smaller than the skip, but it's hard to say how common that is, since the BEP stopped including the uncut-sheet printings in its monthly production reports back in the late '80s.

I've been trying to collect data on uncut sheet serials to pin down this kind of thing--what I've got so far is here--but there are still a lot of question marks. If you have any sheets that tell me anything I don't already know, or that clear up any of the confusing bits, please do post the serials and plate positions....

Wow, thanks! I'll have to get the site updated soon now....

I'm a bit surprised to see the HF..B $5 sheet. I'd've figured they were done with the old $5 design.... Eh well, there's no telling with the BEP sometimes.

    Thanks again!
