Just becuase a country is socialist doesn't mean that everything will be bad. I used to live in socialist Sweden and I can assure you that the Swedish mint worked a lot better than the capitalist US mint.

These nickels are impossible to find in my change here in New York; you'd think they were minted in gold! Ordering from the mint will be the only way to find them. Those nickels look great in my proof set; they did a great job. Too bad the Kennedy Half and Cent are scratched so I'll probably have to return for an exchange. With the Mint, the replacements are often worse than the originals!

But that's my point - the U.S. Mint is run by the government.

Just ordered 10 sets via the web. The check out order has "null" as the product name and availability as "no longer available". So did I place an order and what did I order?

I then went to my e-mail and received a confirmation for 10 - 2005 ocean nickel two roll sets - IN STOCK!!!! :)

With the tax rates you pay in Sweden I should hope things run better ;)

Ok, the Mint is getting REALLY interesting now. Now that you can finally order from the website, the checkout clearly states in bold "BACKORDERED". The printed receipt states "NO LONGER AVAILABLE" and the email confirmation states "IN STOCK AND RESERVED". Talk about confusing someone!!! Covering all the bases for whatever is to happen next. Only thing I don't have is "shipping confirmation".

    DITTO!

Same happened to me. I called the Mint and asked the 2nd service rep. as the 1st rep couldn't hear me and the phone computer wouldn't recognize my 8-digit number.

She said they were still having computer problems but my order had been accepted. :) While I was there I asked about the wife's Marine Set because it is still in her cart  but she got a confirmation number. The rep said it was probably still a problem with the web site.

At least it didn't take long to place the order ans my account was still active.

She ordered it for a good friend of ours. Either that or she's got a Grunt doing the yard work when I'm not home.

Mint is still updating the server tonight

I just wanted to let everyone know when placing an order on the mint website, the site automatically changed the quanity of my order from 10 sets to 1,000 sets of the Ocean in View Nickel Rolls. When I proceded to the member checkout the quanity was 1,000. Please be sure to check your quanities before clicking the order button. I finally gave up and phoned the mint. A very pleasant fellow took my order.

I ordered 12 sets of the OIV nickels monday. Today I check my order status and it
    reads as follows,,

OIV Nickel Sets. QTY 5 Price 8.95 Total 44.75 12 units shipped 8/03/05.

Am I reading this wrong? I order 12, they say they shipped 12, but I am only charged for 5. Whats the chances of this order being completed correctly?

Looks like you're a winner in the Mint lottery !

You're lucky; there are more losers than winners.

    FPP7777,

If you have doubts, I think you should call the Mint (1-800-872-6468). I think the people there on the phones will be able to fix anything wrong.

I once had a web site status indicating I had no order pending; I called the Mint order desk and they verified my order was in good standing.

I called. My order status on the website is the same as I posted above. The
agent I spoke to said they are having website problem, but confirmed 12 sets were
shipped today. I just checked my credit card and it has not been billed yet. So I
guess I/ll just take the wait and see approach.

Strangest thing. I ordered a bag of 500 Philly and 500 Denver and they shipped today. Also ordered a mint roll from each mint and they say reserved and awaiting shipment. The Mint works in strange and mysterious ways.

    OIV Nickels

I ordered 12 more P & D nickel sets this morning. The mint website took my order ok, but then my order read at checkout, "Product Not Available." The email the mint sent me reads "In stock and reserved." Go figure. I phoned the mint and spoke with a nice chap from India who could barely speak the English language. He had to bring an American to the phone for me to complete the transaction. I am really worried about the nine remaining orders that I presently have backordered at the mint. One of my orders was placed on 5/26/05. Jim
