I'm testing myself by looking at the markers. IMHO I say fake. Any inputs? http://cgi.ebay.com/1955-Double-Die...dual?hash=item5633ce06c1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
The face is what got me first. I got a "copy" 1922 no D )slab doesn't fit) in the dansco and the eyes are just as squinty. Then looked at markers and alot of the lettering seemed to be way off.
That is pretty pathetic! :goof: The porosity on the reverse is severe and makes me think electrotype? :kewl: Ribbit
"all items are sold with NO Reserve & Sold as-is with no-returns … I am not a coin expert nor do I grade coins etc .. . I will try to describe coins the best I know how. . . but please ask as many questions as needed and ask early so I will have time to answer ….." Doen't this just about say it all? I think that last sentence means so I will have time to look it up somewhere else. Hey, I was only gonna' bid $500.....:goofer:
I think the seller is a honest seller and will pull the auction, once they realize it isn't authentic. Ribbit
Trust your gut instincts, they're often smart enough to tell you the truth without your being easily able to put it into words. That coin - fake as can be.
Sent a message and the received mesage follows: My Message to seller I know that you are not selling the coin as "genuine" or "authentic" but it appears in my opinion that this coin may be a reproduction/copy/fake. Sellers response u dont know what i am sell it as - it is a double die 1955 - please if u think its not a real double die - " genuine " then dont bid . . . thanks -
This is not an Abraham Lincoln 1955 cent. It is actually the Aiguo Liang 1955 penny, made in China (just look at the eyes).
