Grades just popped on these. The $5 is AU58, the $20 is AU55. Not my first attempt grading either. The $5 graded AU details, environmental damage first attempt, AU details cleaned second attempt. $20 graded AU details scratched first attempt. Shows how consistent graders are... I'm just thrilled they are both now straight graded!

It looks like the scratch on the $5 gold is much worse than the one on the $20. Which service graded them?

They are both gorgeous. Stop traffic toning, for a Gold coin.

Pcgs. It took some searching to find the scratch on the saint. There are a few that are in the wing of the eagle. Hard to notice and not distracting, which is why I thought it would have a shot at straight grading if resubmitted.

Great looking coins. Your experience certainly highlights the uncertainties and subjectivity inherent in the grading process.

I think the $5 is low grade MS. I think this was a bad case of TPG blew it. I would go MS 61 on the $5, and AU 58 on the $20. No damage. Straight grade.
