I am amazed at how this coin looks and have been looking to buy one but I am shockd at the prices. Can anyone tell me why this coin is so expensive? It is truly a piece of art when you look at it. Does an NGC certification matter? Here is an example of one.

I think the proof version is much better looking when compared to the specimen, however what confuses me is that the specimen version also looks like a proof coin? Can anyone help a new coin collector with figuring all this out? Thank you.

The 2009 Kangaroo at Sunset is by far the most attractive in the Kangaroo series. With its low mintage of 4000 proofs, the premium is set to continue climbing.

I picked up the coin in BU condition, I've not sen one for sale in the UK at all on any website so had to get it off an Aussie one. The postage cost as much as the coin.
    It cost £44 all together.

Australia international shipping cost is really expensive. I think there are quite a few listings in US that ships internationally.

I just bought the Ken Done 2009 Kangaroo in Proof, also from Oz.

The postage this time was 9 Didgeridollars which is like £5 inc. insurance which is a bargain.

This was the cheapest I could find the coin anywhere at all on the net.
