Great job as usual. At least you haven't lost the knack for recarving.

People from this forum, ebay buyers and those I,ve done commission work have been asking me about if I,m really going to slow way down or get out of coin carving, the answer is yes, but to what degree I don,t know..After carving coins 13 years I,ve a urge to venture into other forms of engraving, In fact I attended and completed a engraving class a few years ago to be able to engrave knifes and guns, but I kept getting so many requests for coin carvings that I never got around to using my schooling..It,s possible I may go back to school to perfect portrait carvings on silver coins, when I say portrait I mean lifelike portraits on coins of someones child, father, mother, etc.

    Hi Bill,

Wonderful coin! I will certainly search out your past threads. If it doesn't take much effort, could you suggest reference material on the carving process, especially the way you might prepare the coin for carving, normal gravers or specialized ones? I have nothing in my numismatic library on such, and printouts of your threads will be the first I will add. But could search out any books or articles you felt were important.

Do you use a "house mark" someplace for identification of your work? What ever you might can suggest.

    Thanks

    Jim

I highly recommend anyone who enjoys this piece of art to acquire one of his pieces. I was lucky enought to purchase one and I am glad that I did. This is one of the few items that I don't mind showing off.

How much would you charge to carve someone's portrait on a coin?
