    My opinion it was that coin and a couple others and compressed in a C-clamp. The letters on the front that are backwards above the date are from another coin.

    Somebody needs to establish a study: plan, protocol, summary report. A professional job to get to the root of this 1 cent problem.

    That is the backward letters ERTY/LIBERTY. My guess is there was another cent under the target cent and the letters transferred during the strike...both cents were reverse up for this to happen this way...jmho...Spark

    edit... @paddyman98 answered this in post #13...a day late and a dollar short again!… but, at least, we agree...

    Welcome to CT @Andrealuvspennies$$ As posted above, it is a PMD, post mint damage(d) coin, but certainly an interesting one. I'd definitely put it in a flip and keep it as a conversation piece.

    What say you, @paddyman98 : is that a "floating roof" on the OP's 1989-D? Sure looks like the one I found in my latest CRH.... :confused:
