    Hi Guys!
This is my 1st time posting and I am hoping for a lot of help!!!

I think I should have LOOKED before I LEAPED but it was a Deal or No Deal thing at the time. I bought (2) 1881 Morgan Dollars both (CC) and I think I got a good deal. But my real problem is now that I have them I am a little worried that they may not be real and if they are what is the "REAL WORTH" and Grade of the pair.

I need your honest Opp's and be kind because I'm a real newbee at this.:hatch:

I took some really HUGE pix of the coins for you folks to look at and I hope to hear good news soon.

    Mike

I am no eggspert, but they don't look "right" to me. I hope you didn't pay much for 'em.

I don't like the denticles on the reverse on either of them. :kewl: However, I'm not an expert on Morgans so wait for one of them to weigh in but I believe them to be counterfeits. :(

They don't look right to me either. Have you weighed the coins?

I'm queasy about the look of the surfaces, and the rims. Checking weights and having a good look at the edge reeding is advisable.

Definataly make me queasy , notice the reverses of both look identical , try the old magnet trick , the reeding like Ksparrow said is important as the third side , check for uneven reeding or reeding that starts to overlap , check for cast marks or tool lines that shouldn't be there . Also compare to a real known example . Also hope I'm wrong and they're real .

Sorry to say, I have to agree with the majority in saying they don't look right. Please post the more detailed pics. Did they come with a return policy? What was the source?

I just compared my 1881 Philly to yours and allowing for minute die differences I'd say yours are genuine. There is wear in some spots that make it difficult to compare. I also didn't take out my coin from its 2x2 so I couldn't check everything.

Other than looking like they have been cleaned, they look genuine to me. I compared it to my GSA and they look good except for the wear.

I took them out of a clear Flex Pouch and I took the pic with a great Sony DSLR Camera. In the pix they look good but they are really are not. I will try to post a pic with out the flash.

Sorry, I am about as certain as I can be - they look to be counterfeit.

Compared to this 1881-CC reverse, I'd have to disagree:

That is a 1881-CC PCGS MS-65 and the denticles on it look correct. :kewl: The OP coin has a heavy ridge on the edge, which is a common trait of counterfeits and the denticles are different depths (12K to 4k and 6K to 9K), which is also another trait of poor quality counterfeits. :goofer:

Too many problems so I say counterfeit. ;)
