When I went to a Wells Fargo today to cash in some SBA dollars the teller (a young kid) thought they were quarters so I corrected him. Then he mentioned that they had some other "weird old dollars" and showed me a 1921D Morgan. Trying to stay casual I said I’d take as many as they had which turned out to be two Morgan’s and one peace. All common dates in VF-XF, nothing very valuable but still exciting to get at face value.
Last year I saw a teller bouncing a couple silver dollars on their edge on the counter. Same thing, trying to stay casual, I asked "where`d you get those?" He said someone cashed them in. Can I have them if I give you 2 bucks? Sure. Also no biggies, an 1891-0 in VF and a 1921 in AU, but way cool to get for face value!
What do you figure the odds are? they can't be too good,i guess it helps to spend more time in banks.
man I used to get 90% sil kennedys and ikes at my bank for face, and as many as I liked then they cashed them all into the fed!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Silver Surfer, Cool deal! Man, finding those at a bank would definitely make my day! Heck, it would make my month!
I was hoping lightning would strike twice in the same day so i went to the B of A up the street from my house. I bought a 10$ roll of half dollars and found a 1967 40% silver JFK and a nice BU 1999 JFK,no big score but worth the 3 blocks i walked. Spider-I dont think they made 90% IKE dollers,i think there 40% or 60%
Sorry for the misunderstanding, I was talking about 90% Kennedys and------------------------------------------------ike dollars (regular/clad)
Wow! I haven't even found a 90% silver coin in circ in more than 20 years! Last was 1979 in Dunedin FL, at a grocery store...
yeah it was pure luck, maybe i should play the lotto this week. anyway here's the reverse,1881o,1921,1923
