I've been following a thread on "another forum" about this same subject and everyone there is just as awestruck with this auction as this board is. With the reserve price at $6000, another thought is whether this will actually sell or not. With the heaviest wave of bidding to come, we'll see.

the larger bidding appears to be driven by two bidders, one has 0 feedback, and the other has 1... Are you a little afraid of being had by some pranksters?

    i sure am -
i actually contacted thru ebay both of the bidders who have no feedback. the one with feedback of one stated "everyone has to start somwhere"
and the one with 0 feedback never got back to me.

I asked them if their intentions were to actually buy the coin or just to try to hit the reserve

well, I guess if they do one, they have to do the other... in theory

I have to admit, this has really made a very interesting topic.
Reminds me of the Oatmeal square inch of Alaska certificates many years ago...

good luck! I can't imagine anyone actually paying $6000, but who knows, maybe you'll be lucky.

Well I learned something. I had no idea about this.

Just when we thought the Mint was infallible for errors and varieties, we are hit with a string of them (mules, cent varieties, Wisc. quarters, etc.).

Luckybox, I noticed you live in Lakeview NY. You don't happen to work at General Mills in Buffalo, do you?

can someone explain the difference in the dollar? What changed on the reverse?

The Cheerios Sac has more detail in the tail feathers on the reverse. In another thread (in maybe another site) I saw a link to Coin World's site, which had a picture of both.

    Hey luckybox,
I'm still curious about what you plan to do if this auction doesn't meet your reserve. Is there a "No Sale" if it doesn't reach $6000?

OK....this make more sense to me now. Don't know that I'd fork over $6K for it, but then again, I'm not in the position to fork over $6K for any coin :p

Lucky, your ebay sale didn't mention much about the coin variety so it seems like its just a coin found in a box of cheerios. If my first statement was offensive, my apologies. Just an honest response based on the information given. This forum often posts ebay coin sales that are, at their surface, seem outrageous. The last was someone that thought the mintage #s for a common coin was its value. So instead of being 1 penny of 66 million, the individual listed it as valued at $66 Million. So again, honest response with limited info.

That all being said, thanks for sticking it out and baring with us. Its a good group with a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience. This thread has added to mine ;)

Best of luck with the sale. I'm sure you already plan to, but do NOT send the coin until you've got cash solidly in hand. By this I mean, if you take a check, make sure it clears, if you use paypal, make sure you transfer what paypal deposits into another account.

    Lastly....man, I wish I was still eating Cheerios back in 2000 ;)

    lawgodct-

    thanks,
i guess i should have put much more info on the sale than i did. I just figured the only people that would be interested in the coin were the onse who already knew about it. we shall see what happens today @ the end of the auction. thanks

so guys, when I check for the Sac dollar, I should just check to see if the line is raised on the tail feather and if it is then its the Cheerios sac, am I correct?
