i dont see the "flaw" in the coin maybe you could give us a better pic of it and we can see how you came up with your numbers... And I guess I agree with everyone else, don't take it personally it is just the opinions of some of the people here. arn't we all just learning from each other? be happy that your coin is getting all this attention.

and again there were only 5500 of these minted and who knows how many are still in uncirculated form with them being placed in cheeiors boxes, most have been taken out and spent (probably by children) when they got them

    luckybox,
Please don't misunderstand the attention in this forum to your item and please don't think that we're being contradictory to what you're doing. This forum is open to opinions, both founded and unfounded, but the best part of it is when the fact-of-the-matter comes to light. What just happened in this thread is the best of what can happen when there are questions. Someone makes a first impression and others give their opinion then hopefully the source of the issue straightens everyone out. Looks like textbook example of this to me.

Knowing the group of folks that I see on this forum, none of us are questioning what you're doing - we're genuinely curious. No group of people are perfect but after browsing through some other forums on the Internet, I can tell you that this is the most civil one. I may have struck out too aggressively at first but I tell you that I really want to know what happens with this, just as others do. One thing you'll find about this board is that it is rarely adversarial.

Who knows, maybe I'll stumble across one sometime in the future and I'll be using your auction as a reference if I do. So, press on! :)

    thanks for the kind words,

i didnt mean to come into this forum so fierce, but even after i did come in, no one has yet to ask me any direct questions, besides a couple of you. it seems as if many are not responding or coming forward. i will be happy to answer any questions you may have - - i will tell you as much as i know (which is not that much about this matter)

    thanks

I'd really like to know how you came across this coin. Did you have it all along or come across it some other way? Buy it from a friend? Garage sale? etc., etc.

Those are the stories that make a coin interesting. ;)

i had the coin all along,

i came across a "want it now" post on ebay and seen the cheerios coin. I vaguley remember the coin from 5 years back - - so i did some research and seen a pic of it - and i thought i had one, so i scowered my house and found it in a trunk in my attic with my old baseball cards and other memorabilia. i really dont collect coins, but i guess i just put it away once i got the coin.

Can you be 100% sure that it is the rare SAC $ or is it where you can't see the back to make sure???

Now, luckybox, you wouldn't be a packrat, would ya'? ;) If you are, I'd say you packed the right cheese away this time. There's not a collector amoung us that wouldn't love to ride the wave of that dream. The box that Grandpa put under his bed and forgot about - the item found in the wall while remodeling your house - the trunk in the attic. And you're living it.

I have a few more questions...

Is this the first one sold?
If so....how does ANYONE know how much they are worth or should be worth?

Why did you use Ebay...I can think of Coin Auction Co. that would have been better in a few ways...more collectors that have the $$$

On a forum we talk about things happening and things like that...there is no law I know of that says we have to ask the owner or anybody first before we can talk about it--I have yet to see us bad mouthing this item or anything.

if you read the research done on this coin every coin in the cheerios were pre production and all were struck with the same die, the die was changed onces they were put into mass production, so all that were in the cheerios box are the different ones. the reason i didnt put it on some other auction is i didnt know where to put it. i thought ebay would be the best place that i knew of - - again i dont collect coins, so somewhere you may have thought to be a better place (or common knowledge to you) i have never heard of.

and i dont know if this is the first one ever sold - i have seen a post that one was sold a couple of weeks ago in a privite auction - but i dont know what the price was. again i did as much research on this coin as i could - and made the decisions i have made.

ahahahha - - and im not really a pack rat - - just some things i put away - -im a sports memorabilia collector and i just put it away with those things.

and also i am remodeling my house and do hope to find some money in the walls (i wish )

    hahahah

The last publicly known storage facility was Fort Knox. But they were removed several years ago and taken to an undisclosed location.

Not necesarily, A bunch of these were spent for face value back in 2000 so just search a bunch of rolls til you find your own for just a dollar! That's how I intend to find mine. Remember, there may be 2500+ of these in circulation, which is a huge number compared to the number of 16D dimes or 14D cents in circulation! So by comparison your odds are great!

I went to my bank and picked up almost $300 worth of SACS to look through.
