Hey guys i picked up these two $20 bills from the bank i noticed that the 1974 note has a different left border edge than the 1988 note according to the Paper money books $20 notes from 1969-1995 should have the same borders. Is this an error or just spending money?
If you're talking about the margin from the edge of the paper to the edge of the vignette, this discrepency is pretty normal. What's not normal is when the design becomes cut off, that's a cutting error and those would sell for a nice premium. Having an general offset face will hurt it's value more than help, note collectors prefer well centered examples.
I agree with kookoox10, and will add that small differences in margin widths is typical. (just spending money)
My opinion Its a cut error but the condition with that water mark its only worth $20 but you might get up to $30 for it/the right buyer
I have a few 1977 ,1974,1963,1969 .1981 .know if any. worth anyone can tell me what to look for new to collecting
