I've noticed two things recently: first, images don't load, especially in the older threads. Second, when I open a thread, I'm now greeted by a full-page add which I have to close before entering the thread. Anyone else encountered these issues?
Yeah I never see ads because of adblocker but it seems pictures have to be uploaded to ct now for them to show up
I understand if you become a Coin Talk SUPPORTER, the ads go away. I understand that if you pull your pics from your PC / Device, that the pics will stick. However, if they are linked in, they do not. There has been a lot of discussion throughout the threads, however the above have helped my experience.
My advice to anyone who hates adds is to become a supporter! It is ABSOLUTELY WORTH the $30 a year it costs for as much time as I spend on this site. Not only do you have no adds but you can send images via PM and all kinds of other things too.
I like supporting CT, have for years now. Therefore, I have no idea what anyone is talking about when they talk about ads on this site. I haven't seen one in YEARS. If they were numismatic ones, I might like to see them actually.
It's an ad that pops up in a new window when you click on several features. Click on Alerts it pops up, same with starting a new thread and a few others. It just started recently.
I had ad blockers on but a few months ago I mentioned it and somebody pointed out that adblockers stop ads from showing up and the website doesn't get money from the ads. I don't want to be a part of what makes CT lose money, so I've since then stopped using adblockers.
Why does someone always have to tell us the ads will go away if we pay. Most of us know about THOSE ads. They do not bother me. But those that open a new window to a site I don't want to go to is not only annoying, it can be dangerous. There is no way to know if all of these new sites in new windows have proper security in place. Ad blockers are fine but sometimes you need to see certain ads. This should be of concern to everyone who does not want a virus, trojan, malware, adware and most similar problems that may piggyback on unknown, un-secured web sites. I have Glary Utilities Free program for cleaning my computer. Since these ads started to pop up, my cookie count has increased by at least 50 %. The program cleans these out but it also means someone or many someone's are tracking my presence here on Coin Talk. I never got got emails from "HOT AISIAN CUTIES" before this.
