It's on Ebay. The Person has 600 positive and no negatives. However, with less than a day there are no bids on it at $199.00. That is why I am curious. He says it was probably cleaned.
Nahh, I personally would pass . I would have to see a slabbed coin for this year . The value starts at $350 in VF condition . Peace Dollar Value – COIN HelpU (coinauctionshelp.com)
Yeah, I was expecting that kind of price but was curious why nobody was bidding. It's the last coin to finish out my Peace set.
Let's just settle this , buy slabbed for this year or at least " Authenticated" . Let's call this Lady a Fake . Check out NGC.com :Counterfeit Detection: 1928 Peace Dollar | NGC (ngccoin.com)
I'm not a specialist in either fakes or dollars, and something about it just seemed off. I'm going to go with everyone else's opinion, it's fake. There's just something off about it that I can't quite place.
EXACTLY. And, let's be honest - how many late 1920'ish Peace $1's have you seen with a strike that clean? I dislike this series, as the reverses all (maybe the high relief is a tad better) look like they were struck through gravy. Yuck. LOL p.s. there is no question about "probably cleaned" - a coin with that much detail should be dripping in luster, IMHO.
Pass on it. I love Peace Dollars. I have a high grade and 3 lower grade sets. I would pass on this coin.
My first impression was “bad.” No luster, lots of detail but overall funky look. You have mess around a lot to make a higher grade, genuine coin look like this.
Down to 8 hours and still no bids. Might be a bunch of suspicious people on eBay because usually, you get at least one person to jump on it regardless of the issues.
