Over some time I've gathered a fair collection of different coins. I doubt that anything like Sacagaweas and Susie B.'s are worth much more than their face value, but the much rarer Kennedy half dollars and the Eisenhower dollars have me wondering. Are they worth hanging on to or should I dispose of the ones I don't need for my own collection? Spencer
1964 Kennedy Halves 90% Silver 1965-1970 Kennedy Halves 40% Silver The others if non proof, are worth face value. Any IKES you got from circulation are probably not silver at all, and might get maybe a little over face on ebay, but not much, you'd probably end up losing money. http://www.coinflation.com/coins/1971-1974-1976-Silver-Eisenhower-Ike-Dollar-Value.html EDIT: The link I gave was for the silver ikes, what years, and what mintmark ("S"). I say rid of the ones that you don't need for the collection, in big lots so you don't lose money selling them singularly. (But I'd sell the silver ones separate from non silver)
I see lots of Ikes going for premiums on ebay......like 60 ging for 88 bucks or something similar. You ship them in a priority mail box and you make a few dollars. I'm thinking about selling a lot of mine soon...
Ikes are one of those under-appreciated series. The mintages were high and few actually circulated so many collectors a complacement about them. "I can always pick up a set" is a common attitude. A few items to consider. First, they are very heavy coins and as such the bag marking tends to make it hard to find really attractive pieces and "B" they were heavily used in slot machines for many years. The slot machine coins are pretty much destroyed as far as collecting is concerned. I'd add three here and mention the huge number that have been gold plated as novelties but I would then exceed my "few" items.
