They are very pretty and I hope you score a 67 on one of them. Cant wait to see the results when they come back.

Unfortunately there is no way to tell. PCGS likely has that info but they will not release it.

A 65 gold CAC will surpass the price of a 66, especially for common dates. The last 65 gold CAC I watched (1885 in a rattler) sold for $415. The common range is $350-$500 (with a few outliers in both directions). A 67 will usually bring more though than a 65 gold CAC.

CAC will close the gap to the next 1-grade increment.

But the Gold/Yellow Bean likely exceeds the 1-price increment because it's almost a certainty that CAC/Albanese would buy it at a nice premium to the grade with their buyback guarantee whatchamacallit.

I'm not sure what the buy back price is for a Gold CAC but I'm fairly certain it is often below what the coin would bring at auction.

Besides those that would pay up due to the coin being very nice, there are people that collect gold stickers. I recall reading a thread that not long after CAC started, there was a guy buying up all the gold stickered coins he could find and that helped increase the premiums (especially for common coins). He might have dropped out at some point as I did notice that gold stickered common coin prices started easing up several years ago. However, the last year or two I've noticed a resurgence. So there might be more people who have started chasing them.

The gold CAC market isn’t anywhere near what it was. Unless combined with rainbow toning, which these are not.

It might not be as strong as originally but it is stronger than it was a 1-2 years ago. I'm seeing common Buffalo nickels and Mercury dimes going for $50+ more than they were before. Common Morgans in the 62-65 range are also selling for $50-$100 more.

I personally dove into the gold CAC sales market for a while 2 years ago. Had about a dozen including some toners. They didn’t sell. In fact only one sold. It was a PCGS MS66 gold CAC Buffalo nickel and it went for $100 at a show. After that I auctioned mine between eBay and Heritage and lost money on a few of them. Simply not worth it, plus as a CAC dealer, gold CACs seemed to be only given out when a coin looked at least 2 grades under. Otherwise I kept getting green stickers. Additionally, about a year ago I watched a gold CAC toner mercury Dime go on Heritage for great money, then a few months later it went on Heritage again in a grade higher PCGS holder, for thousands more. The market for them is fun but not what it was. And it is inconsistent in lots of ways, from many angles IMO.I love having them, but as a dealer, no one wants to pay up for them.

It is certainly a tricky market. Other dealers (especially at shows) are definitely not the best people to sell them to (eBay and other collectors are still the best buyers). And trying to "make" your own (sending in to CAC) can be difficult too. I had a period where I tried and only had two make it.

There was a time though where you could pick some up for fair prices. That time you dove in-about two years ago-appears to have been the lowest point. That was when I saw some auctions go for under $75. Those that bought then and sold recently have realized a decent return as the common coins are creeping back up.

With your current Morgans, I was simply commenting that a gold sticker would garner a higher price than the same coin in a 66 holder. However, I was not suggesting trying the CAC route. I think your plan to send them all in has better odds of paying off. In my opinion, getting at least one 67 or several 66s is much more likely than getting one gold sticker.

Strange, IMO....but then again, you can choose what to collect in this hobby.

I haven't even SEEN that many Gold Stickers online and at the shows I have been attending pre-Covid the last 2 years.

Maybe 1 out of 100 CACs is Gold ?

People do collect all sorts of things and gold CAC stickers isn't that odd to me (as someone that liked collecting oddball slabs).

As far as Gold stickers, the percentage is quite small overall. And the majority are found on common coins (late date Buffalo nickels, Mercury Dimes, proof Franklins, & Peace Dollars/Morgans).

That's probably why I haven't seen them, since I focus on larger coins like Saints, Liberty's, and Morgans.

Any gold coin with a gold sticker is fairly scarce. Morgans are more abundant but still not as common as Buffalos, Mercs, and Proof Franklins.

How many 67s do I see in that group? None. The second 79s may be a 66. They are nice gem coins, but nothing approaching 67. A couple of them might upgrade to 66 at best. However, those dates are common dates, and are graded tightly. You would have a much better shot at going for CAC. If any of them green or gold bean, it would be worth more than a chancy upgrade.

Yes, I thought there were a few 66s, but didn’t see a 67. I am glad you got the 67 for the 1884o. It has great luster, and is nicely struck for a New Orleans date. So, they gave that coin the benefit of the doubt. It is a beautiful coin.
