Thanks for all the great information and opinions and they were great. I think if you summed up all the comments, my thoughts have been running much along these lines. Kind of like the devil on one side and the angel on the other. I do believe this seller did sell these coins before she had received a bulk shipment from her supplier. I also believe there was a problem with this shipment from her supplier. If they were a problem with my order, then an ethical seller should have notified me of this problem and a delay in my shipment. I can understand this. It only takes a minute to email someone. I am not really comfortable with USPS shipping. I have had some delay problems with them before so I really do not know how much confiedence I have in their tracking system. It is nice to have faith in people and to give them a benefit of a doubt when you can. I still have a few more days to file a dispute and be within Pay Pal policy. Think I will give it today and if not recieved I will file the claim I would like to thank everyone for their input. It was and is much appreciated.
Thought I would give a little update. Well late last week I opened a dispute over my non receipt of my coins. This morning I received an email notification that the seller had opened a claim asking Pay Pal to investigate. I was going to do the same thing within the next few days. I had to August the 4th to do this. Now as I understand it, my seller is asking Pay pal to investigate and there will be no more direct contact between us. That is fine because she had not responded to the last two email I had recently set. Since she has filed the claim then I would assume it will not be necessary for me to file a claim. Is that correct? One thing I have going for me is 3 other buyers have filed a claim and posted negative feedback on Sunday(yesterday). I am still reluctant to post any feedback until I know the facts. Still lack of communication from the seller is enough in my book to warrant a negative. Maybe this person was sick or locked up in a mental institution, I do not know. I have bought very few items off the bay. Never had a minute trouble with any of my purchases. This kind of deal will make me and I am sure others think twice about future purchased. I know things happen but this is something I can avoid. Thanks, will post more later.
I sold some items on ebay the last week of June, shipped out the day after the sales and people are just now starting to get them. So far nobody has dinged me because they are looking at the ship date on the packages. Why its taking so long right now for the PO to deliver things is beyond me. 3 weeks to get a tube from Michigan to Virginia or Texas seems a bit excessive. But they were all shipped. I have sold stuff and I always use Tracking with the USPS and the website never updates that they were received.
The final update. Well on the 21st Pay pal open the claim and today I was informed Pay pal had decided in my favor and a refund was made today the 23rd. That was quick. In the email Pay Pal sent me I was advised me to read their security service link to avoid fraudulent sellers in the future. At first I thought these folks are nicely calling me an idiot. If I am not mistaken Pay Pal is owned by EBay. This seller is a Power Seller with over a 99% positive feed back rating at one time.. This sellers rating has dropped a great deal since then as apparently there are a number of people who did not receive some purchased items. Lot of recent negative feedback for them on the bay. This seller had apparently decided to take the money and run . I really do not see that I could have done anything different from what I did other than avoiding EBay all together. Then again I can not be critical of Pay Pals handling of this little problem. What I really do not understand is how an apparent square deal seller can all of a sudden done this. Also My claim was like $100. Another was about $120 while a few were like 6 and 7 bucks. If I were going to rip some people off (never have, never will) , I think I could have done a little better than this. I would like to thank everyone for their input and advice. This was a great help to me. While my post was concerning my coin purchase, it was also about how to deal with people and EBay. I think sometimes it is easy to forget how much other good information is available on Coin Talk from its knowledgeable members in a variety of areas related to coins. Thanks again and I will shut up now.
Well done bama! I'm happy to hear all worked out in your favor, as it should have without question.. The bottom line is, the way most people are today you almost have to assume they are out to get you in some way. I'm sorry I just can't live my life that way. I guess I too am fortunate, that I haven't been ripped in a larger financial sense. I hope nobody put's a target sign on my back .
I am glad everything worked out for you. This has happened /happening to me right now. I have two purchases in question right now. I don't know why everyone came down on me so hard for my comments. It is a fact of life that most people are less than trustworthy.I wish it were not true. Perhaps the economic downturn we are facing, has forced honest people to do things like this. Good luck and thanks for a great post! It was interesting.
