I am hesitant to mention it, but when I need a washer or an offset latch, it is easier to reach into my change pocket and drill a cent or even a quarter. Bigger than that, I use Mexican coins. To get into the car and drive to a hardware store and spend the time is way more than expensive than sacrificing change which I would have to give up anyway.
