Another of my recent BTW pick-ups. This is a duplicate, as it was in a multi-coin lot. First set of pics are mine, second set are seller's photos. Gimme your grade! My Pics: Sellers:
Die polish... I give it a 65. It’s tough to tell how much the marks on the portrait stand out in hand, so I could see 64 but will guess the clean fields and gem luster squeaked it into a gem holder. Nice frosty BTW
'65........I suspect a lot of those parallel marks are on the 'lens' (holder) itself. With the sellers washed out photos, it almost suggests that he is trying to hide something......I like Beefers honest photogs better.
Those are 100% die polish lines. Not at all visible in hand except when the light hits it at 45°, which is where my lights are. They're incredibly faint in hand.
MS 65. Commemoratives in MS 65 are like Red-tailed hawks in the west. Look up in the sky and see a hawk and say RT and you would be right at least 80% of the time. Same with comms...MS65 with just a glance to make sure it is not wacked and you are prolly correct 80% of the time...
65 is awful generous for that coin just look at all those marks on the face!!!I was thinking they over graded it but went low on it.
Those are unstruck planchet marks. I think on BTW's, the severity of the unstruck marks is what determines a 65/66/67 Nothing on the cheek gets a 67, some on cheek gets a 66, and cheek and forehead get a 65. All other things equal.
