Started to put this in the World Coins New Acquisitions but then, wanted to look at what others had in this genre. The white ones are significantly more expensive, but pretty, and I have seen some that have the devices gilded...hmmm...wonder what I could do with some gold foil...

These are cool and I first noticed them only recently. I also learned PCGS will grade them now.

I don't have any of these but I have looked at buying some several times. There are some that have really beautiful engraving.

I have a number of these. There are some really nice designs available. I used to know a guy that claimed to own all of the varieties. He passed away and I haven't seen any of them since.

Japan. Not technically porcelain IIRC, that is a specific content. A couple sets, sadly I don't have a white set yet. Designed as patterns near the end of the war, which ended before release was implemented.

Most commonly seen, 1 sen. Some of these even apparently made it into actual local circulation. combo black.jpg

Technically, a number of the German pieces aren't porcelain either. The reference I use for these is "Munzen aus Porzellan und Ton" by Scheuch, which roughly translates into "Coins from Porcelain and Clay". Generally, I have no problem lumping them all into the Porcelain category. I do separate the "coins" (have a denomination) from the medals, however

@Stork were some porcelain or red clay tokens also issued in Manchukuo?

Those were Magnesite (?spelling). Described as a red fiber. And they made it into circulation. I haven't gotten one yet. As a rule I don't collect the puppet states--too many things out there so I make rules. That said, I do want one of these some day.

@Stork so they must have been something like the OPA tokens used in the USA. I have a roll of those things somewhere - even a spring loaded token dispenser. Some people are really into those and collect them by the check letters on them.

Really like the white ones. Any more? Whatever color, whatever country...

Always liked this set from Ulm as it depicts actual early 18th century issues from that principality.
