I've got 5 gold coins, here are two of them... 1959 British Sovereign 0.2354oz of pure AU. Looks like a solid MS64 or 65! Here's a tiny little guy. 1945 2.5 Mexican Pesos. 0.0602oz of pure AU.
Very nice collection. Was the 1885 a difficult date to find? Also wondering if the color is representative of your coins? Contrast seems kind of flat in these.
I bought these awhile back and it was a set, so I can't say weather or not the date is difficult to find or not. The color is off and doesn't do the coins justice. They are much more rich in color in hand and still have quite a bit of luster. These are scans and my scanner is rather old, I really need to buy a decent camera. Thanks for the compliments though.
This one is a keeper, definitely. Thx for the complement, btw. My most treasured $20 is the PCGS XF-40 1852-O that I found at a local coin show after 3 solid years of searching. It is an original surface coin, no cleaning or dipping. Someone once told me that Douglas Winters figures there are only about 170 or so of them left. I need to get decent close range photographic equipment so I can take a picture of it.
Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Hi ,this is the new 2009Ultra High Relief Double Eagle.MS70 First Strike
This is a REALLY crappy pic with zoom, but it gives a general idea of the coin. Very soon I am going to have to look into more professional equipment.
Well, you're right - it IS a crappy photo, LOL, but only an estimated 600 EXIST even circulated, and virtually none in MS, so it's a great coin, and I will consider that pic an appetizer until you get around to serving the main course! Well done on that purchase!
Yes, there is something wrong with your camera. It keeps putting big black smudges where the certificate number should be !
Thanks for the CC gold ! :thumb: Next I suppose you're gonna throw down some "C" gold... and really show us up, huh ??!?!?
Sorry to disappoint, but no Charlotte or Dahlonega gold here. I am mainly a double eagle man, so I have at least one of "P", "O", "S", "D" and "CC" mints. The 1852-O was definitely the toughest to find in a coin that appealed to me. Next double eagle I am aiming for is a 1877-CC original surface VF to XF, which I think is going to be tougher to find than was the 1893-CC. The hunt is just as much fun as the ownership, IMHO.
Very awesome CC20! I love the apricot toning on your $10 Indian! I thought I'd throw in a dab of "incuseness"
