As the title says, I have a 1764 or 1784 Foreign Coin, an 180? Half, and an 1857 Half. The first coin I've had for a while and as I know very little about foreign coins I've never been able to identify it. It is very detailed, very small in diameter, extremely thin, and not exactly perfectly round. So, if you guys could figure out where it is from and if it is worth anything that would be great. As for the 180? half (I believe it is a half), it is hard to tell from the pics but it is easy to see the 8 and 0 of the 180? part of the date, but from normal vision I can't tell what the last number is (with a microscope I may be able to). So, if you guys could help me I identify what exactly the year (or range of years) it is and its worth that would be great. And finally, the 1857 half looks to be in good shape and I am wondering what grade you guys think it is. I will be sending in some coins to anacs soon so if you guys believe any of these three are worth being graded please let me know. Thanks! Obverse: Reverse:
The first coin I can't help you with. The second coin isn't a half dollar, it is either a 1¢ or a 1/2¢ coin. If it is a cent then it's diameter will be about 29mm and if it is a half cent then its diameter will be about 23.5mm. If it is a cent then it has a value of about $5 and has a possible date range of 1800-1807, and if it is a half cent then it is worth about $6-$7 and has a possible date range of 1800-1809. The third coin is very nice! It looks to be in XF condition and has a value of $75-$100.
P.S. I would certainly get the 57 Half graded when you send your coins to ANACS. P.P.S After comparing the size of your coin to the size of the 2x2 it is in I am convinced that your second coin is a cent.
Okay thanks for the help. I will send in the 1857 half and if anyone has any idea what the first coin is that would be great.
Update. Coin not in yet but I called anacs and the 1857 half was graded au55. What do you guys think it is worth now. I will get pics up as soon as the coin arrives.
Cool, if you guys find out anything about this coin it would be very appreciative. This coin has intrigued me for a long time and I've never been able to figure it out. It is as thin as tin foil almost!
It would help a great deal if you post what the legends are. The we could find out even more for you.
