I'm sitting here today looking at 3 rolls from I know not where. I'd have to say they are probably bank rolls. One of them I can see the date and no mintmark whih makes it a P and the other end of the roll has the "Log Cabin" the other 2 rolls have the "Log Cabin" on both ends so I have NO idea what the mintmark is. I'm tempted to open those 2 and check for errors, but have not seen nor heard of any errors in those rolls. Help! I'm gonna open them if someone can lead me to a place I can find out about errors in those.:goofer:
The only one I know is this one a DDR http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=2009&die_id=2009p1dr001&die_state=eds Browse the site if you are unfamiliar with it, BOOKMARK it if you are a cent variety collector. Jim
Put the normal ones back in? Into circulation? I actually haven't found very many "normal" ones thus far. but putting into circulation does make sense!
Those are some very subtle errors listed on the home page there, Jim. I figure those are just scratches. Am I wrong to be looking for only blatant/obvious errors? Seen lots of deep gouges, I call em, in Abe's face, hair and coat. Same on reverse in the cabin and some in his shirt and arms in the LP1s & LP2s.
I guess the safe thing would be to keep anything suspiciously different until the dust clears ( probably in a few years or more) or sell them on ebay as "valuable". I don't think anyone really has a good idea of what is rare or not, and the demand for them. I think much of the demand currently is by resellers hoping to grab novelty value. Since PCGS and NCG say they aren't going to label them as varieties, it does beat down the market. I think if ANACS starts making significant money off of their slab labeling of them, PCGS and NCG will label the ones they feel are the winning varieties, and that may shift the market. I am only keeping "major" ones I could see with "granny's 3X magnifier" . IMO as I lost my fortune telling kit. Jim
