Hi everyone curious, I recently picked up a lot of foregn mixed coins. The very first one I pulled, ok, the 2nd, the first was an India 2 Paise, but this one caused me to pick up my Krause. I believe its a #749.2 because of the "H" mark, (or a #755) in either case, as long as its real, this coin looks to be a better grade... how close is this to VF? I find it hard to believe I got this with a $8.95/lb bulk buy. Thanks!
You labeled the thread wrong, its a 1874 not 1864. I started to scratch my head for a second there. And to answer your question, I don't believe it would pass as a VF a Fine maybe. The shield is pretty much flat and there is little if any detail to the laureate. It also appears to be cleaned. Nice find though!
I was going to say "ugh! Another worthless Victorian penny!" But yours is better than that. The guide i have says 6 pounds in F, which this looks to be
oops of course you're right, my bad Sometimes staring at 300 coin pile does wierd things to you! I also found a beer token, looks to be an old one - Gut Fur Ein Glas Bier (w/stein). I saw a the exact one eBay for about $15, but on mine, has a large K.(dot) on the obverse, instead of the F.K. on the eBay one. http://cgi.ebay.com/Token-German-Gut-Fur-Ein-Glas-Bier-F-K-Unlisted_W0QQitemZ390035595886QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5acfeee26e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1205|293%3A1|294%3A50 (not my auction)
I just came across this penny tonight. i know its not worth squat, but i thought i'd practice my macro shooting.
Macro shots... Rook... Try to keep your lens at 90deg to the coin, add in as much white light as you can and aim for at least F5.6-F11. If your shutter speed is too low (say less than 100th) up the ISO, the noise will almost vanish when you downsize the image before uploading. The images I have been posting have been roughly 500 pixels square, don't look bad... Regards
