Hi ive been looking at coins for awhile to find errors..I dont know if the 1982 small date is a error or ?. Just curious before i get a scale. Is this considered the small date version. Thanks
Yes. Note how the diagonal curves down to the base. You might want to save this image for future reference.
Check the site below concerning your 1982 cents. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/smalldates/1982.html Also an article from coinweek.com entitled "The Coin Analyst:1982 Lincoln Cent Provides Collectors With Challenges, Rewards"
It's a variety not an error. There are 7 different varieties. Now you can get a scale If it weighs 2.5 grams then it is the last one on the list. Most likely it is.
Looking at the surface on the obverse, it appears as if the coin has plating blisters, meaning it is copper plated zinc. So I'd hazard to say it will weigh 2.5 grams, and as @paddyman98 said it will be the last of the list he provided for you
There is an error for the coin (if it's copper) that's worth $17000, so measure the weight before discarding. If it's 3.1 grams, it's the error. If not, toss it.
Make sure you have a 1982 D small date copper (3.1g), unlike this one in the ebay link below...$1170 is just wishful thinking, that's a large date coin. The easiest way to spot is the shape of the 2. https://www.ebay.com/itm/133575792224 Also see https://www.numismaticnews.net/world-coins/rare-1982-d-small-date-copper-found
I sent that seller a message with the graphics below. If he doesn't shut it down will report it to ebay.
