By my definition (mine, not necessarily anyone elses), there are 8 types in the seated liberty dime set. I listed 7 in my previous post. Here are the 8... 1) No Stars, No Drapery, Tilted Shield, 2.67g 2) Stars, No Drapery, Tilted Shield, 2.67g 3) Stars, Drapery, Upright Shield, 2.67g 4) Stars, Drapery, Upright Shield, Arrows, 2.49g 5) Stars, Drapery, Upright Shield, 2.49g 6) Legend, 2.49g 7) Legend, Arrows, 2.50g 8) Legend, 2.50g Arguably you could eliminate #3 (or #5) and #6 (or #8) (or even #3, #5, #6 and #8) and still have an example of all the different variables (just not all of the actual combinations of variables). Variable : Variation Stars : None, Yes Drapery : No, Yes Shield : Tilted, Upright Legend : None/Stars, Yes Arrows : No, Yes Weight : 2.67g, 2.49g, 2.50g Also, a variable I chose to ignore, the mint mark location, hops up and down so it is either above or below the bow. And of course I am sure there are many other differences and varieties that I have not mentioned. I think I've already gone overboard afterall, so I'll stop diggin this rabbit hole. For my type set I wanted as many O-mint examples as possible. There are O-mint examples of 7 of the 8 types (all but #7). I have 6 of them (#1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #8). The only O-mint example for type #6 is the 1860-O and it is rare (Numismedia currently lists this coin at $680 for a G4 example), and I'm not interested at that price. It's not the rarest, but for me it's a no at this time. Blah blah blah...here are the pictures. Hoping to upgrade several of them.
