This arrived in the mail today. A gift from @Paddy54. FFIVN and I have met him at a few local shows pre-covid and we struck up a friendship. He is definitely a stand up guy. The other week, he texted asking for my address and didn't say anything else. I sent it and then left it at that. Today, a letter arrived in the mail and after carefully cutting through several layers of protection, this beautiful coin came out. Those of you who know me, know that I love all things Victory/Nike. The image of Victory on the Libertad is no exception. I don't have any proofs but I did start buying silver Libertads in 2017. Paddy knew exactly what would fit in the FF collection and came through in spades. Not only is this an absolutely gorgeous Victory, it is also the lowest mintage coin in our collection. Our next lowest mintage would be the 2019S Reverse Proof American Silver Eagle that I was lucky enough to get from the Mint when it went on sale. Here is the coin that came today: Please feel free to post your Libertads, lowest mintage coins, or whatever fits the theme.
Thanks! I like Libertads too but this is one of my lowest mintage coins so I posted it for this thread. Here a little more info from my original thread: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/another-addition-from-kazakhstan-tobol-thinker-tantalum.367479/
I haven't collected any Libertad's so far (definitely on my want list), here is one of my lowest mintage pieces (15,500) - I have a great deal of South African coinage, and this is my fave proof: 1952 1/2 D - George VI - NGC PF64 (some funky toning going on in there)
1/2 Ounce Gold Libertad, PF69 Ultra Cameo: I think I have to dust the coin, you can see it on the obverse !
I dust my Saints, everything else has 1/2" of dust on it. It's not my fault....blame Covid-19. My mom hasn't been over to my place since last year to dust. Get that damn vaccine, Mom !!!
Seriously, I have to take a nicer shot with my newer Galaxy S9 (I think those pics were with an S4). The color will then shine through.
If I ever get my hands on some gold (without selling a kidney, robbing a Bank, studding my dog, or otherwise stumbling onto a pile of cash), I'll be able to tell you well how the iPhone 11 captures that shine! It does great on silver, by the way. ;-)
What smartphones can do camera-wise is utterly ridiculous. Our own eyes can't even SEE all the detail and resolution and pixels they capture.
Not to be too personal, but I see you post "FFIVN" and I honestly have no clue what that means - I assume it is a family member?
FFIVN = Furry Frog IVN(Latin for Junior...as written on ancient Roman coins) FurryFrog Junior is my oldest son. He's almost 10 and has a deep love for coin collecting
Exactly - thank you! I'm always telling people who get the latest/greatest Ultra HD television (4K, 8K, etc.) that your eyes can only resolve so much. I have a 4K laptop with a 18" screen, and I can't see a single pixel at a normal working distance no matter what. There is a shelf life for those optic nerve in our heads.
