How about some guess the grades!

You guys all guessed too high. PCGS graded the coin AU50.

 

I was going to guess AU50.

I was also going to guess MS61BN on the last one with id number 2528094-001 assigned.

Darn.

 

Here is a Morgan graded by PCGS that I just picked up, and I'm very curious to see what everyone thinks of it's grade.

 

That's the first time I've seen a certified 1921. I'll say 64 or 65, but I'm leaning toward 65 just because I don't know why anyone would submit anything below that for a 1921.

 

You'd be amazed at what some people submit and how, too often, the grading fees are greater than the value of the coin.

Well with the PCGS Membership you get so many free grades a year, and they are always having specials where u get free grades for a particular series.

A slabbed coin will typically do much better on Ebay than raw (some people see a slab and get exited, no matter whats inside lol). So why not take advantage of the free grade if it might make you some extra $$$?

 

The gradings aren't really "free" since there is a return registered mail shipping charge of at least $20. Plus you have to get the coin to PCGS as well. That said, I've been the owner of several slabs where the plastic was probably worth much more than the coin inside

Not good at all in grading Morgans, but that looks very clean, I'm saying MS65, would maybe go higher, but the luster seems muted to me, but that could be the photo, not sure though.

I was hoping some might think this coin would go MS65, I certainly did when I saw it. There are a few marks and a rather big one on the neck that I think hold it back. The luster may not show well in the photos, but it is one of the things that drew me to the coin. It has a much more proof-like luster than most Morgans, which I consider to have a more frosty type luster, in general, except the proof-like luster on this coin runs across the devices instead of the devices being frosty.

Yup, it's a MS64.

I'll go out on a limb and say MS-65.....

I'll say 64FH, seems to have plenty enough luster and I'm not seeing too many marks on that one, except for the one on the head which I'll say keeps it at 64...
