Hi, I am looking for trusted online sellers who can ship coins with good reputations. Coins I am interested in are King Herod I The Great prutah/coin King Herod Ancient coin collection, Knights Templar coins: 1180–1223 France Silver Denier of Philip II , Templar Knights Era Cross & Cathedral Silver French Coin, Great Britain England Crusaders 3rd Crusade King Richard The Lionheart Denier, etc. Thank you very much! Take care. Chris
You can find many if not all of those coins on MA Shops.com. The 40+ dealers I've dealt with very honest and reliable. https://www.ma-shops.com/ Be sure you have a PayPal account.
Welcome, @Chris N! Your range of interests is very cool. @tibor's recommendation is heartily seconded. Another one might be https://www.delcampe.net/en_GB/collectables/coins-banknotes/coins/. From limited but sustained personal experience, the ethical standards of the dealers are comparable to the ones who list on MA. They're also overwhelmingly European, if frequently on a smaller scale. And where dealers are concerned, there's some overlap between the two websites.
A lot depends on where you live. In general, shipping coins within a country is less hassle than shipping internationally. So first, start with domestic dealers, and then look internationally if you can't find what you want. VCoins is another site worth checking out.
I use Vcoins, Forum Ancient Coins, and MA-Shops for many purchases. Additionally, there are several folks here on CT that I enjoy purchasing from. They may have their own sites, have eBay sites, or sell here on CoinTalk. I trust them because I know them. Many members may have their site links listed at the bottom of their posts as a signature line.
Thank you very much, everyone! I definitely want to purchase within the USA. Not wanting to do an international order. I know that can be costly, etc. I will for sure check these out.
@Chris N, your point about shipping from Europe is very well taken, especially with the recent, draconian rate hikes. Apart from that little detail, I've been having good luck only over the past few weeks, where delivery itself is concerned. ...Wish I could recommend USebay for medieval, but frankly, I can't. ...Maybe the less said, the better. --There's the occasional pearl among the swine, but they really take finding. Even some of the prevailing 'big names' are less than great. There used to be better ones listing there, but that was years ago.
