Would you rather have a slick coin with barely any details, or a holed one with good details?

well I took more pictures of a few RARE (to me) almost slick cents that I could afford in the past. some have seen these before but never together I tried different shots and color backgrounds for best pictures.

For me with an extremely rare coin, holed in a nicer grade is preferable over a slick coin. An example is a 1787 Sicilian 2 Tari silver coin with a small hole that I was able to find on eBay for $30. I have never seen another one anywhere. I was thrilled to find it.
Also when it comes to extremely rare silver and gold Italian coins, the reason some still exist today is because they had been turned into jewelry. My silver 1787 Sicilian coin might have been on a Sicilian lady's charm bracelet 200 years ago.

 

I'd take the slick. I totally understand the appeal of the details that a holed coin may have, but I like the 'purity' of a worn coin.

I wouldn't totally pass on a holed coin, but I'd choose a worn coin over a holed if given the choice.

 

I guess this means you do not like my coin and I understand many may view your choice with agreement.
The coin may not appeal to anyone and is the worst condition coin in what remains of my collection, but its value, to me, is above any I ever possessed.

 

and THIS is why coin collecting is so much fun. So many different Ideas and choices. I have known folks to collect JUST wheat cents, nothing else. Also known Buffalo nickels collectors that wouldn't have any other coins. ME? Heck if it's a coin at a reasonable price ..it's mine.

 

You know what I reckon, so many of you North Americans are into beauty pagents, Miss America coins, what's it worth? Just as well, less competion for me. This beauty is from Brittany, and comes from the time of the '100 Years War' (Dinan mint). I like to think it was brought back by an English Archer, and was hung around the neck of his beloved. Priceless well £16.18.

 

If there’s a sentimental value that’s certainly different and we all have different tastes.

 

Easy, holed. Slick mind as well go in the melting pot.
