I'm thinking they will be overpriced. Some of the other gold commems have lower mintages. But if they aren't way overpriced, I might get one. Nine silver commems with the same theme is quite a large number.

I am thinking that with the upcoming changes in the gold content to 99.99 this will be a first in two different ways. The $50 Commem will be out of sight expensive...so to speak .." Up to the Moon"....Start saving your dollars my Gold Bug friends...I ~ 750.00 per $50 Gold Coin! Please tell me your thoughts!

    TEN, not nine planets, now!

I think they better change the number of silver commerorative planet coins from 9 to 10, since scientists just discovered a new planet in our solar system. I forget its name, but I hear it only orbits the sun every 560 years, so no wonder they just discovered it! :D

Don't get your hopes up just yet - it still has to pass the Senate to become law. While it may pass - most of these proposals do not.

    RickiB,

I think you are in the ballpark with your estimate.

In the news on Friday they were saying that they have discovered a tenth 'planet'. They say its bigger than Pluto so it should qualify as a planet ( I guess there is some discussion about Pluto being a planet). So does this mean that there will be 10 silver dollars?

    Here are my thoughts....

Most likely the Gold coin would all or partially be minted as a proof coin. The new coin would be the purer gold, .999, that will be used to mint coins in the future. If an American Eagle Proof today goes for $720.00, my guess is that it will far exceed that amount 2 1/2-3 years from now. My est. would be $800.00 or more.
