http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2009/07/16/10151296-sun.html Canada can do it but the good ole US of A don't have the guts to stop it. We are becoming more like the French everyday.
"No More Canadian Counterfeits on Ebay." That's not quite true. The RCMP got eBay to remove the category for replica Canadian coins and notes. And it's only on the Canadian version of eBay. So I suspect the listings for replica Canadian coins and notes will show up with the listings for legitimate coins and notes. Just removing the category is not going to slow the scammers down much.
I tend to agree, Kanga. It certainly doesn't seem like a bold anti-counterfeiting move, that's for sure. Seems like next-to-nothing. In fact, the Canadian action might make things worse. The questionable material is no longer partitioned in its own category, but rather rolling around with genuine stuff.
Not according to what I am reading. Front Page of Coinworld August 3rd states ALL auctions for replica or copy coins on www.ebay.com site have been taken down. In Canada, all replica coins are considered counterfeit even if they are cleary marked as copy or replica. The article further states that thousands of auctions were taken down because of this. Best read the article gentleman. I think Canada is onto something here. They are also going after the people who have purchased the "Junk" on ebay and trying to pass it off as the read deal.
