<< Didn't need this, but I think I am very happy with this one. If I can get the crud off without damaging the underlying tone I'll be incandescently happy... couldn't believe it went that low.. Redbook lists at $90 in ms60 and $160 in ms63,, I think this is ms64'ish, maybe 65 ?

All of them look nice. The one that worries me the most is the 14-D - I thought the color looked a little off. But you probably know more about these than me.

Don't know the going price for any of these as I do not really seriously collect them.
That one 1916 S you bought has ugly streaking of some gunk on the left side on the obverse, the toning is nice, but that streak throws me off.
The 1914 D look kinda odd, I would have passed as you did.
The 1930 D looked nice, don't know what the price for one of those is, might grade at MS65-66.
The 1920 D has a spot on the back of ABE's head.
The 1924 has a spot near Abe's nose, chin, and surrounding areas near the rim. Also a deep scratch, near the spot near the nose. I would have passed on this one as well.

This seller had gunk and spots on a lot of his coins. (I am wondering if he cleaned every single one, and let them tone, but he couldn't get out certain areas of gunk and spots.)
I don't know if I would have really bought any of the coins you bought.

The 1914-D appears to have the wrong style of mintmark and I can not see the die line from the bust to the rim> I have grave suspicions about it. The inside of the D should be triangular but it doesn't appear so here.

1916-S - MS61/62BN, may have been cleaned and retoned, these are often woodgrained in brown. A bit on the ugly size, the price is justified. A good buy at $46 IMO, you paid AU-55ish money. MS-60 CDN ask is $93

1930-D - MS63RD CDN ask $19, at $53 shipped, poor deal IMO. I hope it looks better in hand and is blazing red, I see some cartwheel in there.

1924 - MS62/63 RB, possible AU. Just right price ($29) for a spotted coin, CDN 63 is $36. I hope it MS! You can find some really nice 64/65's at shows for not much more.

1920-D - Blurry pics, but the coin looks MS, around MS-62, nice luster. These are almost always from worn dies, MS60-62 are the most common MS grades. $75 is a fair price, these are tough to find in MS. CDN 60 and 63 are $62 and $100, respectively.

Good pass on the 14D. Absolutely no possible way I'd buy one from ebay raw unless the seller was stellar and a Lincoln expert with a solid return policy. Really, the keys are serious buys, for me a MUST see before I drop that kind of money. It's just not worth the trouble to drop that kind of cash without seeing it in hand.

    Thad, thanks for the comment.

I hope to improve the look of the 16s abit with a light distilled water bath,, I've seen the black gunk on these before and it has come off easily for me in the past, but often the removal will also remove some of the filmy toned... probably some type of re-toning accelerant as you've noted,, or maybe just gunk from poor storage.. either way, I really like this one with gunk removed. I have the same date in pcgs holders in AU58 and ms62,, this one's details are as nice as either of those easily.

30-d,,, had no idea these were going for less than $20 in red... make that 2 increments on the beer meter ; )

24 is going back to the 'bay starting at .01.. already have pcgs64RD,, dumb ugly spotted coin...

    20d,, fingers crossed,, we'll see.

What do ya'll think of the 96 prestigue proof set,,,,,,, sinking ship ? I saw another go off at around 290'ish today, but it didn't appear to be as strongly cam'ed.
