This is an Awesome Silver Karl Goetz Medal commemorating 100 years of the Death of Queen Louise of Prussia. On the Edge is the inscription (Bayer Hauptmunzamt Feinsilver). I got it for $15 USD and $3 USD S&H. I believe it would have recieved more attention and bids if the seller would have spelled Queen Louise's name right or mentioned that it was a Karl Goetz piece. So I think I got a good deal. Also, feel free to post your picks of the week to!!!:hail:
Certainly an interesting coin. Don't know anything about them, but the face really looks ultra high relief.
Yes the bust is raised high off the medal and Karl Goetz used Joseph Grassi's Portait to make the bust on the medal.
I have seen the same piece at auction go for about $50 USD with multiple bids, that coin had much more wear and had a loop welded to the top for wearing on a necklace, also I have read that Karl Goetz piece's are getting more demand these days! So it is only worth what I may get for it, but I feel it worth at least twice what I paid and that makes me happy:hail:
