so yeah I see a lot of wheat back pennys at work. Usally I toss them back (except my 1943 steel). So here is a question. Is it worth collecting them? either as a set or individually.

I suppose it would depend on your definition of "worth"
I have an almost complete set of Wheat-back cents. And I feel it's "worth" completing & collecting

I'll just say this - cents are my favorite part of my collection. To me it's definitely worth it to save all that I find! Besides, even if you start saving them and get a bunch of duplicates, a dealer will usually buy a roll of random wheat cents ($.50 face value) for around $.90, thus earning a slight profit on the coins! I've only been saving wheaties for about 7 months now, and I already have over 10,000 from circulation alone! 10,000/50 = 200 rolls x $.90 = $180.00 for $100.00 face in pennies! Not a bad trade....
