Just bought this raw off ebay. I'm gonna send it in to be slabbed, what do you think it would grade and how much should I have paid for this?

The picture makes it hard to really tell what the surfaces look like, glare from lighting is a problem also. Based on what I can see in the pics, I'd give it a VF20. Maybe not a good candidate for slabbing.

The color doesn't look right to me for a coin of this grade, may have been messed with. Also seems to have a little bit of rim damage, not sure if it's enough to keep it out of a holder though. That said, it has high VF details so I wouldn't think it's worth enough to slab (the certification fees exceed the value of the coin). I think you paid about what it's worth, but grading will cost you at least $25 (probably more with shipping). At $30-$40 into the coin, you'll never profit.

I agree with the others. This is not worth getting slabbed, because it won't get a grade. I can see hairlines on the reverse, and the color is very off.
I hope you didn't pay too much, not anything over $10 really.

Not a bad coin, and i'll agree with VF 20. Now this coin is not in a holder and it has already some really nice toning. Consider putting that in a little brown envelope and let that thing blossom.

Without know the true color of the coin it is hard to say. I also put the details at VF20 and maybe $10 to $15. Just my opinion.

Not at all original, it has been worked. No copper coin is that red with VF details....if you attempted to slab it it would bodybag at NGC and end up Genuine at PCGS.....details net grade elsewhere.

I have a "junk box" for coins like that.

I recognize the problems, but I certainly would not toss it into a junk box.

    I agree!

This would be a great coin to give to a youngster and you could create a numismatist in the process.

I hate to pile on, but my first thought was I didn't like the color (although I am not a copper guy). Anyway, don't slab it -- not worth it other than to see the grade (curiousity can be expensive) and here you would likely only see a net grade from ANACS, a body bag from NGC and a Genuine (oh boy!) from PCGS.

Yeah, I agree. Besides it is too good for a lo-ball set.

I can't even guess from that image. I hope you will post a better image after you get the coin.

Again, I would say throw that IHC into a nice brown envelope and help that toning along.

I would say throw it to the next youngster you see and create a YN!

Received the coin today, and agree completely with the vf20 grade. It is currently in an envelope and hopefully in a while it will sell for a lot more, nt.
