Now i know there was a low mint of 3000 the book price is 625 pound's but he opened the case and you can see fingerprint's on both side's so the ? Is it proof once it is open and what is the value of the coin

First, once a proof it is always a proof.

Now it is just a mishandled proof.

Second, not being familiar with the coin, what is the gold content? (weight: one ounce? or?)

    5 troy pounds IIRC.

A 5 pound (denomination) coin would be about a $15 gold piece, so that doesn't compute to me, but I have been a bit "thick" in the past, Frank. ;)

    okay I rounded, so 40 grms = 1.4 oz
    divided by 24 X 22 = 1.28 oz pure, so at $900 gold = $1154 gold.

I'm not sure of the present exchange rate for Euro's to other currency so it may well depend on that. Also, what are you plans for that coin? If for resale, you may find collectors may not want it due to the fingerprints. That too depends on how bad those prints are on the coin. If embedded prints or just recent toches. And too, remember that the price of Gold, Silver, Platinum, etc goes up and down continuously. For all anyone knows Gold may be back to half what it is now.
If you have that amount of money to speculate with, enough money to not worry about some loss, a good place to resell, you may want to take the chance and buy it.

If you can get it for 600 Euros I would jump on that. That is quite a bit under spot....600EUR= 836.22USD
