Hi Everyone, Just wanted to ask what may be a simple question. What's the difference between the Perth Mint and the Royal Australian Mint? The only information I could find is that the Perth Mint only mints commemorative coins. Where as the Royal Australian Mint does both commemorative and circulating coins. Is this correct? Is that the only difference? I appreciate the assistance!!! Thanks!!
If I recall correctly, the Royal Australian Mint strikes most of the regular coins for circulation and mint sets and some commemorative coins whereas the Perth Mint is owned by the Western Australian (WA) government and strikes bullion coins from mines in WA.
Location-wise: The RAM is situated in Canberra, the capital of Australia. The Perth Mint is, of course, in Perth(in the Western Territory.
