For my birthday last week, among other things, my kids (and wife) filled 3 holes in my budding Indian Head collection: 1897, 1887 and 1908 (with full "Liberty"), an off center strike cent (I've wanted one of these for a while, see pic), some foreign notes (very cool), and: An UNC 1957 Silver Cert (I didn't have any 57s before then). :eat: Don't know much about the world notes, but they are cool!! Great birthday!!!
A couple more (isn't it interesting that one is horizontal on the obverse and verticle on the reverse?):
Thanks Travis. I actually had a birthday contest, but didn't do it right.....I put the contest out there and I think it was won before very many people saw it. Next contest, I'll set a time so that a lot of people can start at the same time.
Well, Happy Birthday! The Biafra notes are pretty neat. They have no dates but yours were made between 68-69. Some of these notes had no serial numbers! The state was only independent for about 3 years(1967-1970), before it reintegrated into Nigeria as three different states. The other is, of course, a 1946 Hungarian 1 Milliard. Congratulations!
nice note - i also love the Biafra note. i work with a guy who as on the Biafran Independance force... he rarely likes to talk about it A point of interest though -- the internationaly renown program 'Doctors Without Borders'... and organization whose doctors have helped millions of people around the world ... was created becuase of the humanitarian struggle in Biafra. so some good did come froma terrible situation
What lovely prezzies :high5: I realy like the image of Simon Bolivar, I honestly think he might well have appeared on the notes & coins of more countries than just about any other person barring Elizabeth II The Brazilian is nice as well and also usable LOL
