Hey guys ! Let's see some pictures of cool gold coins. Here's an 1836 Classic Head $5... as always, grade opinions and comments of all sorts welcome.
900fine, I absolutely LOVE your $5 Classic Head piece. Wanna trade? Here's mine. Anyways, the TPGs are notorious for overgrading these coins, so I would say NGC would give it a 58, and PCGS would give it a 55. I would give it a 53, and very VERY PQ at that. Great strike and very few marks. Perfect type example.
Don't have any classic head gold, but I do have "bust" gold By the way, the IHC i put there for scale, but I actually got that one in the first box of cents I ever tried to roll search :thumb:
Thanks ! I bought it 'cuz it still has original mint cartwheel lustre. So few do. Outstandin' ! Yes, they are Yes, they did Yes, they probably would Yes, i would too Yes, it is
Wow. Well, we have no room to argue here. Since you are in such an agreeable mood with your spree of "yes's" I will go ahead and fill in your response for the one question of mine that you missed. johnny54321: "wanna trade?" 900fine: "Yes, of course!!" :hail::hail: CrustyCoins: I will settle for a trade with yours as well. btw...AWESOME COINS!!!!
Yes, they are. All fabulous. Thanks, everybody. But HEY ! Yer not gittin' off that easy. It's time for one more contestant in the Great Gold 2009 Summer Smackdown ! Here ya go...
Very nice ! :thumb: Branch mint. Competing with Crusty's Dahlonega, are ye ? It's Indian Nite here on Coin Talk, so here's one for ya...
All I can say is WOW guys....they're all beautiful. But of them all, I'm deeply in love with 900's OP....
Original Dahlonega gold is really in a class by itself, I can only dream about owning one someday. I really like the Pan-Pac gold dollar, a great design and one that may be more within my reach.
One more before I hit the hay, I'll confess that it has been lightly cleaned, but still has nice color and luster:
1857 $3 ! A home run hitter ! :hail: Nice pick; a somewhat better date. 85% less mintage than the 1854 prototype.
