$52.95? Zikes!! http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...ctId=14997&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=10111 Will you be getting it? If so, how many?
Well, I normally get one, but I was thinking about moving my sets over from Whitman to Dansco and they have slots for the silver proofs, so I may be getting another set for that. Now I have to go back and buy all those previous silver sets and I am not too happy about that.
I have always order a Silver set since 92. so I will get a silver in 2009 the prices are getting higher on everything:desk:
I have a standing order (subscription) for two silver sets and I usually order a few more later in the year but I don't think that's happenin' este ano.
A lot of coins in the set. 5 dollars, 6 quarters, etc. I don't think the price hike is too much vs. 2008 sets. I'll get an extra this year because of the Lincoln cents and Territory Quarters.
Guys, this may be a good thing. If the price becomes a big deterent to purchasing multiple sets, then the total number of sets produced may be low and this may end up becoming a key date set. Thats the way I am looking at it. So cough up the money now, or be set to pay hundreds of dollars down the road.
So does any one think that this set could become like the 1999 Silver Proof Set. With the price at $52.95, I don't know if I will be buying more than 1 set. The price may keep the demand down. I will still buying 1 set since I already have the all of the proof set since 1954.
I don't think this silver set will reach 99 silver set status. In my opinion there are just way too many people buying these sets nowadays, especially with the home shopping channels and ebay re-sellers. Plus I think a lot of people will count on the too rich for my blood people. Just my $.02 though.
I will get my one set and that is all. If they start adding any more coins to these and raising prices more, this collection will become history in my set regardless of future potential value. I look to collect, not re-sell.
I won't get it, and won't get a clad one either Both are no-go's to me. Well time to wait for that lincoln set with mintage of 50 K, don't know if it will come out though, I've hear it won't then it will again, mint needs to make up their minds
General consenses seems to be either to pass on this issue or keep purchases of it to a bear minimum. Interesting....
I've been purchasing the clad and silver proof sets for awhile. I was going to buy 5 but I think I'm now shrinking to 3. I can't believe that they are raising the price again in this recession. It will have a low volume, which may help us all in the end. I hope they don't over make these like they did with the 2008's. I can envision less than 600k in sales this year. Will they stop selling the 2008's when they start selling the 2009's? I hope so. I'm still trying to get my money back from 2004.
I will have to get one to keep my proof set run from 1952 to present going. I collect the silver proofs when they are available.
