I am in the process of organizing and catalogueing my World coins and Currency collection. I have been able to identify almost everything using the words or emblems on the coins and the Standard Catalogues. But a dozen Arabic coins continue to elude me. I've posted photos of both sides of each coin, (1a & 1b, etc) at this site. http://upload.pbase.com/edit_gallery/jonysky/inbox If any one can help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, JonySky
Some coins I have identified: Coin 8: Iran 250 Rials, KM #1262 Coin 10: Iran 20 Rials, KM #1254 Coin 11: Pakistan 1 Rupee, KM #62
The coins 1 thru 5 are from Iraq from the thirties to the fifties. I think #4 is a 50 fils which is .1447oz. silver. I can't figure out the dates so I can't give prices but they range from 50 cents on up to the low hundreds. Good luck.
Here they are: 1 Saudi Arabia 1 Ghirsh KM#21.1 plain edge, 21.2 reeded edge 2 Iraq 10 fils KM# 98 3 Comoros (Grand Comore Sultanate), 5 Centimes KM#1.2 4 Iraq 50 fils KM# 104 5 Iraq 2 fils KM# 110 6 (top). Tunisia, 50 or 100 Millim, KM#308 or 309 6 (bottom). Welcome to the forum Dutch68. What a great way to introduce yourself! Please stick around, as IDing Arabic coins is one of my weak spots.
Thanks, I'm a worldcoincollector for 25 years now. ID-ing is not such a difficult thing when the coins are present in my own collection, or at least some coins of the same series. Hope I can help ID-ing coins in the future. D68
Thanks I'd like to thank all of the members who have helped me put the names on these coin. Your help is greatly appreciated. JonyS
