I bid on a 1914-D cent last year on ebay. After I bid, another bidder sent me a message indicating his believe that it was a fake. It was. I informed the bidder that it appeared to be a fake and if he had checked by coin dealer. He sent back a note that a good friend who was a coin collector had told him that it was genuine. Funny thing than happened. A bidder with 0 transcactions began to bid on the coin until the bid exceeded my bid. I immediately reported this situation to ebay. The guy who sent me the original note also reported him to ebay. Over the next day, the coin continued to raise in price by several bidders, who were no longer joined by the 0 transaction bidder. The coin finally sold for over $300 but then the sale was nulled by ebay.
