I would post this in the FAQ forum but for some reason I can't get in. Anyway, I'm looking for a digital camera in the $150-200 range. Any advise ? Thanks, Pat

I just bought this camera, I think it works awesome. You can find them in your price range on eBay but I decided to buy mine at walmart for $229. There is just some things that I wouldn't buy on eBay and that is one of them.

If you don't buy this one just make sure it has a a macro setting.
I would also make sure the optical zoom is at least 5.0X.

In your price range you can get one like I used to use.
    It's a Nikon Coolpx 995.
    It's macro capable.

    There's some drawbacks though:
    - out of production
    - only 3.2 Mpixels; really close images not reasonably possible (like mintmarks, etc.)
    - design flaw; view screen shorts out

But it's capable of being mounted on a stand.
Get a reconditioned one and the flaw should have been taken care of.
Make sure you get the documentation.
    Power supply transformer suggested.
    Remote shutter release suggested.
Image storage chip reader necessary (I think).

    Check out eBay.
You may decide it's easier/better to buy a newer model.

I also use a Canon, A590IS, which has stabilization feature ( very nice if shooting through an eyepiece of a scope or holding freehand), and all of the others features except the one to neutralize glare when shooting slabs or holders. Now about $100.
Usually it is technique and lighting that makes the biggest difference after macro focusing and color balance.
