Maybe i`m weird but the feel of a Walking Liberty half or a Morgan dollar is just so much better than the newer versions . As far as the designs that could be debated forever . The coins and paper money i`ve saw on here as given me much pleasure . I`ve also picked up some very good info on coins and grading too, keep up the good work and thanks again !
No it is not just you, the newer designs suck. I hate them all, they are all unimaginative, and look like they were made in 30 seconds. I look morgans as well Any coin from back in the ole' days is a lot better than what we have today.
The early 20th century coins are the high point of American coinage -- Peace dollars, WLHs, SLQs, Buffalo nickels, Mercury dimes. The series that replaced those series were a big drop-off IMHO and it has only gone downhill since.
And the Walking Liberty half dollars I have are all g-4 or maybe a little better but they are beautiful to me, brings back memories of my father and grandfather . They might not be worth much to a coin collector or dealer but I like em !

The most precious coin I have is a 1913-D Type 2 Buffalo 5C that is maybe VG-F, scratched, dirty, etc. but I got it from my Grandma when I was ten or so. It's a beauty to me and more responsible than anything for why I collect today.
Walkers are my favorite coins. I'd like to get the cheapest MS-60 coin, keep it as a pocket piece, and take progressive photos, like every 2 weeks or every month, to see how long it takes to get to Good... Joe
Strangley enough if you go back and read some of the things that were said about some of those issues when they 1st were introduced you will find they are similar to what people today say about new coinage
