It's not that often that I get to a B&M dealer, as the closest dealer is in the next state with a four hour round trip drive. But, I made a trip on business with a dealer up there the other weekend. I picked a few Morgans off him. This one jumped out right at me! No, wasn't the toning. I'm more of a blast white kind of guy, though I do enjoy the eye catching toning.
Yes, it does look PL, though I can also see why some would not attribute it such. The toning is not too overbearing, so much of the detail is sharp. Out of curiosity, do you think it's a VAM just to take a wild guess, or is there something specific about the 1882-S that makes you believe it's a VAM? And which one do you think it may be?
