I was wondering if anyone would like to share their best piece in their collection...and why it means so much to you. Yes...this sounds a little kindergartenish...show and tell was always my favorite...until the teacher said put that away. I am really looking forward to any replies...which I hope I get atleast 3 to make myself feel somewhat important. Thanks,

I have many "good" pieces that I think are good...to others they are run of the mill...

Here is one...I know...its not worth much...I have coins that are worth much more but I think this one is neat...

Tough choice..like deciding who is your favorite child.
In U.S. Currency, I have a 1899 $1 Silver Certificate (wish I had the $2 and $5, also), In coins, it would probably be one of my uncirculated Mercury dimes. They are such beautiful coins. High grade Morgans, Walkers, and Buffalo nickels are nice, too.

My grandfather was in the Cavalry out in Arizona from about 1902 to 1910. He brought back a few Morgan dollars that he got out there and they eventually found their way to me. Numismatically they aren't worth much, but the family history behind them is interesting, making them my "best" coins.

The best piece in my collection is an old coin from the Qing dynasty my grandmother gave to me. It's copper with a hole in the middle like most old Chinese coins. She gave it to me when I was little and I still have it stored in a safe place.

When I was in elementary school back in the early 1950's, I went to the next door neighboir and he showed me his coin collection. It was the first time I had ever seen a $20 gold piece.

I thought his $20 coins were beautiful, but it took me about 50 years to acquire any.

    I have a 1911D MS64, an 1899 Liberty BU, and a 2000 gold bullion coin.

All three beautiful. Modest, but the keys to my collection.

We have three grown children, and will give one of the coins to each.

    :) :)

These are 2 of my favorites - but almost all my collection is my favorite- I like these because purple is my favorite color--and to risk sounding like a girl- i think they are pretty.

hmmm... my favorite - this would be it - same as my avatar.

This particular coin is my favorite because it is one of the truly rare pieces I own, in that you would be hard pressed to find another like it. This particular coin is a 1747/6 issue - which is curious, because 1747 was the first year make of this type, but was originally created from an older die and overstamped to correct the date.

If someone asked me which coin I was most proud of, this would be it.

    I'm a little slow - why not?

Anyways, my favorite coin in my collection would have to be the 1857 Flying Eagle Cent in XF I bought last Saturday. I think the design is absolutely gorgeous, and I hold it to be the ONLY 1800's piece I own! (For anybody that remembers reading about WHAT exactly I'm collecting, you'll recall that my collection is simply 1900-2000 cents, nickels, dimes, quarters, halves, and dollars. Therefore, the FE is the odd man out, but I think it's just the best coin ever made, and that's why I expanded my collection to include it!)
