I used to be quite against problem coins of all kind especially those designated as such by the TPGs. But if you look hard enough some seem quite attractive and with questionable "damage" evident. To say the least of the bargains presented price wise. Here's one of my personal favorites
Who ever had that AV 2 Dukaten as jewellery, certainly did not wear it. Coin has no wear, seems perfect. I have seen heavily bagmarked MS-64 gold Double Eagles that look much worse, yet "bagmarks" are OK with TPGs. I have seen hammered coins that are UNC/ details/ tooled/ clipped. Clipping should be same as bagmarks, since it was done back in 1400. Many so called "clipped" are just struck on a tight flan. Yours is a nice coin! John
I don't own a single third party graded coin (yet), but if I did send any in for grading, my favorites would probably be ones with chop marks. Chops are interesting enough in their own right that I don't think of them as mere damage.
This is the only one I have, details graded for verdigris. I think there are a couple of negligible spots behind Britannia's plume. I don't like slabs anyway, but I certainly don't want one that shouts about a defect. I want to appreciate the good and not be forced to see the bad every time I look at it.
I have a few, due to buying raw but scarce examples. Here's just one (NGC UNC details/surface hairlines).
